Paros is an idyllic island in the Cyclades, known for its beaches and traditional villages.
Beaches
-
Santa Maria Mikri Beach
Santa Maria Mikri, meaning the “small one”, is our favourite beach. Clear, calm waters and beautiful sand. A 2min hike to the left of the beach takes you to a secluded cove. Maybe not so private anymore - see you all there!
Call ahead to rent beach beds - you can order food and drinks from your sunbeds. Lux!
The beach is 15min drive north of Naousa accessible by bus from the centre or car.
-
Monastiri
Monastiri Beach (the beach of the monastery of Agios Ioannis) is located a couple of kilometres after the beach of Kolimbithres, in a small rocky bay surrounded by huge rocky hills. Great for water sports (call ahead to book). The restaurant here is great - the best octopus we had on the island.
We recommend taking the taxi boat from Naoussa port which runs several times a day. Also easily accessible by car.
-
Kolymbithres
Kolymbithres is the most famous beach in the area of Naoussa. The beach is known for its clean water and rock formations.
You can take the taxi boat here as well from Naousa port - or reach it by car. You will spot the Church if you take the boat!
-
Ambelas
Ambelas is a sandy beach on the southeastern side of the island, close to Naoussa.
A few hotels and taverns are found around this calm beach.
-
Golden Beach
This is one of the most popular beaches of Paros. It has crystal water, soft sand and great for windsurfing. Keyword “windsurfing” - it can get quite windy.
-
Punda Beach
Pounda is a nice sandy beach close to Parikia, which is a Kite Surfing Mecca. It gets very popular for its beautiful environment and the beach bars. From Pounda, ferries leave frequently to the neighbouring island of Antiparos.
It’s 30min ish drive from Naoussa.
Eat
Head down to Naoussa port and you’ll find a million-and-one great options. This list outlines the tried-and-tested food, but there is plenty more to discover. Siparos was obviously our favourite, but you’ll be going there anyway.
Dinner in Naoussa
Barbarossa
Great seafood - and the place where Ane originally fell in love with Naoussa. Beautiful at golden hour for sunset and amazing atmosphere closer to midnight! We recommend trying the prawn saganaki and grilled fish.
Brunch in Naoussa
Come back
Great coffees and brunch and lunch food. Try the poke bowl for lunch with local Tuna. They also have smoked salmon on wholegrain bread for the Norwegians!
Dinner in Naoussa
Deck
A longstanding potential wedding venue for Greg. Reinventing Greek food. Modern, upmarket restaurant and great cocktails. Book ahead for a sunset dinner.
Dinner in Piso Livadi
Ouzeri Halaris
Amazing family fish restaurant run by a local fisherman. Try the tuna steak (comes seared).
Drinks in Naoussa
Naoussa Port
Walk around the port and you really can’t go wrong. We often find ourselves in Methysra Bar or Agosta.
Dinner in Piso Livadi
Markakakis Restaurant
Everything good that’s greek (other than it’s men)! A bit of fish and a bit of meat. Neighbourhood restaurant with outstanding food for a reasonable price.
Dinner in Naoussa
Orbis
Another one of the wedding venues that didn’t happen. A modern restaurant with great cocktails. It’s recently been renovated but been around for decades - it’s where all the locals get married. Go for sunset!
Nightfood in Naoussa
Souvlakia Kargas
The essential at the end of cocktails in Naoussa.
